They rely on Xfinity for their internet and have faced problems lately. The PC is upstairs while the modem stays downstairs. The built-in Intel Wi-Fi works fine with updated drivers, but speeds dropped to just 2 Mbps instead of the usual 200+. No changes have been made, which is puzzling. It's becoming really frustrating for work and gaming.

Hello, I checked if restarting the router would fix the issue and bring the speed back up to over 200. It might be related to a computer problem.

Hello, I’m checking if your connection was operating on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency band. There might be household devices causing interference. Also, are you using torrents for file sharing? That could be contributing to the problem because many connections are being opened. Additionally, let me know what background processes you have running, such as Windows updates.

It has been rebooted already, yet no one else is experiencing problems, but your PC still seems to have no apparent reason for the issue.

The device runs at 5GHz Wi-Fi 6, but since you don’t use file sharing or background tasks, the Task Manager shows minimal activity. The current process appears to be stable without noticeable background work.

Are there similar tools to Armoury Crate from Asus that might affect download speeds for certain programs while a game is active? I'm not certain if Armoury Crate does this directly, but I understand Asus offers apps like it in its Pro Art collection. Since it's based on a motherboard, it could be installed during updates and impact performance.

WIFI6 offers options for both frequency bands. It allows you to select a more consistent band for your internet connection. Have you explored the alternative band?

It could be related; the loose golden screw on the Wi-Fi antenna might be the issue.

Occasionally shifting your PC a little bit can influence its internet performance. There might be some disruption with your Wi-Fi, possibly due to something being rearranged inside the home. This could be why I suggest moving it around a bit.
