Hello, everyone! Welcome here—I'm eager to get support and learn. If possible, I'd also like to assist others. I'm not very familiar with technology, but I'm trying my best. In the past month, I've set up a wired network throughout my home. Right now, I have a 24-port patch panel with six cat6 cables connecting to several RJ45 ports in my living room and office. More connections are planned, of course. My old phone line was in poor condition long before I moved in. I see that many of the wall telephone units use cat5 cables. I'd like to replace all the phone lines with cat6 cables and install a surface-mount unit that supports both RJ45 and RJ11 ports. In case anyone needs a computer port later, I'm open to suggestions. Regarding VOIP, my plan is to connect the service to the port I use for my landline and then dedicate the patch panel to just phone calls. Is this the optimal approach? Could everything be done using only RJ45 connections? I have no prior experience with VOIP or phone lines—most of my phones are rotary phones, so I might need adapters or changes. The main aim is to keep everything organized on the patch panel.

I own a TP-Link TL-SG1024 switch. I anticipate needing a PoE switch upgrade, as I plan to install cameras. I also wish to maintain compatibility with older phones that use landline connections. I'm uncertain about the necessary steps but need them to link to the patch panel.

You require an ATA adapter compatible for connecting a standard phone to a VoIP line.

What devices are you employing? You might want to switch to VoIP for a more affordable and simpler solution rather than relying on adapters.

I possess rotary phones that I wish to retain at home because they enhance the appearance of the house. I realize I must obtain an adapter to transform pulses into tones for these devices.

Certainly! You should connect the outgoing cables directly into your patch panel as planned.
