Yesterday I purchased an Ethernet to USB 3.0 adapter for my laptop. After connecting it, my speed test shows 200 Mbps initially, but after a short while it drops to around 17 Mbps, while my upload speed stays the same. I updated the Ethernet driver but didn’t notice any improvement. I’m using the same cable as on my PlayStation and get about 150-180 Mbps there, which is normal. My Nintendo Switch also works fine with the adapter at full speed.

Couldn't have used it before, but now it functions perfectly on my switch because it supports it.

Are there additional USB peripherals linked to the laptop that might be affecting the USB Ethernet adapter's performance?

I only connected the mouse, but I still experienced slow performance.

Open Device Manager, select 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers', and check for entries labeled 'USB 3.0'.
