Network performance is inconsistent on the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
The stability of your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi speed on Dlink routers at 825 units isn't typical. There may be an issue with the router itself.
It's called interference. 2.4Ghz is utilized by Bluetooth, cordless phones, wireless keyboards and mice, as well as microwave ovens for cooking. All these devices add to the interference on that frequency. Don't forget that other networks also play a role. If you need improved performance, 5 Ghz is better, provided you're within range and there aren't too many thick walls between you and the router.
Based on my experience, performance around 2.4GHz is typical, as discussed earlier. In my location, 5GHz delivers speeds between 300-940Mbit to the LAN.
