Hey everyone, I'm facing a persistent problem with my PC Ethernet connections not matching the speeds I pay for. For a 400 Mbps plan, I usually see around 120 Mbps when any PC is connected via Ethernet. I've tested this on my home work PC, personal PC, and partner's PC, but consistently only 120 Mbps downloads are recorded, even though the upload speed in my ISP plan is higher. The issue persists whether I connect directly to the modem or use WiFi, where speeds range from 300 to 400 Mbps without any trouble. The router manufacturer suggested checking with their side, but they told me to contact my ISP since it looks like an internal error. My ISP dispatched a technician who confirmed everything was fine—hardware, lines, etc.—but with the ongoing challenges from COVID-19, getting help has become difficult. Have others experienced this? Is there a way to resolve it? I've double-checked my Ethernet cables (Cat 5e, undamaged) and even replaced them with new ones, but nothing changes. I've attached photos of my setup and adapter to illustrate the issue.

Have you attempted to reset the router to its original settings?

Ignore what they said about connecting directly to the modem.

I've already attempted a full factory reset, but the problems persist. The ISP claims they can't help and Asus says they don’t either.

I owned a surge protector that included built-in cat5 protection. The only minor issue was it could only handle 100Mb/s ethernet, not gigabit. :rage: If you don’t face that issue, the main factors would likely be TCP stack configurations on your PC (like receive/send window size and MTU). But since you didn’t tweak any of those, it’s unclear why they set such incorrect values—because the default settings should already support gigabit speeds.

I have included photos of both tests to show the speed difference, they were both connected to the same Charter server for the test. Here is the PC Speed Test Here is my mobile speed test

I haven't made any adjustments and I didn't use a surge protector. It's really frustrating.

You might consider eliminating the ISP gear entirely and purchasing your own instead.
