Network issue with E2400 device slowing data transfer
Hi, I own a laptop that comes with the Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller included. Over the past few days, my upload speed has dropped sharply compared to what it previously was. (Reference: My ISP provided 100 Mbps upload, but now it's only around 3 Mbps.) I think the issue lies with the Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. After experiencing similar problems before—especially with download speeds while upload was fine—I attempted to uninstall the Killer Network Manager. It helped temporarily. However, after removing it, I can no longer adjust my upload speed. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: - Shut down the Killer network service; it worked briefly but then worsened. - Rolled back the driver for Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller; no effect. - Entered safe mode with networking to test speeds, but nothing changed. - Ran a speed test on my phone; results were normal. - Performed a speed test via Wi-Fi, which also showed no issues. - Reset the Network Stack using specific commands: ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /renew, netsh int ip reset, netsh winsock reset (followed by restart). - Tried updating Windows, but nothing changed. - Speed test on Ethernet cable: Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller showed ping 39, download 97 Mbps, upload 2.89 Mbps; Wi-Fi showed ping 42, download 42 Mbps, upload 2.67 Mbps. Is there anything I can do to resolve this? Or should I consider replacing or installing a different Ethernet network driver on my laptop? My specs are: Intel i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, 16 GB RAM (15.9 GB free), Windows 10 Home, version 21H2, built 2020. Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.
I was hoping for some results, but I couldn't locate a killer network manager program. Your patience is appreciated! Thanks!
No changes detected. Possible environmental factors might be involved. A nearby resident had suitable Wi-Fi that could interfere with your device's performance.
not that I'm aware of, no. last time i doing windows update is before i open this thread. also not sure about environmental thing. because i try to speed test on my phone and the result was normal (it was like: Download: 70'ish mbps and upload: 80mbps) but my laptop using ethernet cable was only 3mbps on same router / connection. i tried look up for factory driver on MSI site. and when i install the killer driver i got error message and couldn't proceed for some reason. idk if because i only remove "Killer control center" program and leave the other "killer service" alone or something else (i attach pic of other "service" for reference)
My prediction points to something unique about the Intel chip’s functionality, possibly linked to nearby interference or network issues. Machines operate based on specific rules, not random magic. Unless modifications were made—either manually or via an update—the device would remain unchanged. Any external factor like a neighbor’s Wi-Fi or ISP connection could be responsible. The home wireless access point is likely involved; if the ISP controls it or uses similar hardware, they might have applied an update. Environmental factors such as moving objects that disrupted signals also play a role. There’s even a quirky note about antique pottery containing heavy metals and radioactive glazes, which ties into unusual chemical properties. Cobalt in ceramics can produce vivid blues, but some compounds are hazardous if ingested. Prussic acid, used historically in paints, is toxic and can be found in certain glazes. So it’s possible the glaze itself contains radioactivity or dangerous substances.
