Hey all,
I built a gaming PC for my girlfriend a few months ago, but there's been some issues with the internet. Strangely, it'll go into airplane mode on it's own sometimes, even though it has no wireless devices whatsoever or a UPS (which I've heard can cause this).
That's a different matter anyway, been trying to sort it for a while. My issue right now is that the network driver just refuses to fully uninstall. It's "Intel® Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" which is the exact same I have btw and I've never had issues. Pretty standard driver if you ask me. Once I uninstall it using any method, after a restart it's still there, or after doing right click -> scan for hardware changes, it comes back??
This is on Windows 10. Forgot to mention.
I've tried uninstalling it normally via device manager, using right click -> uninstall or right click -> properties -> driver -> uninstall and then keeping the tick box ticked to uinstall any software along with it. I've tried using Driver Booster to update the driver, and Driver Talent to uninstall the driver, however strangely, Driver Talent wouldn't pick it up as a driver to uninstall, only to update? Haven't tried it with Driver Booster yet.
I've tried starting in safe mode and uninstalling using the device manager way as well.
I've tried resetting all BIOS settings to default.
Nothing works, yet. Is there any surefire way to just completely remove a driver from the system? And why does it come back on it's own?
To me it seems like the driver isn't installed properly seeing as some software doesn't pick it up, and also why the PC gets confused sometimes and goes into airplane mode. But it's obviously not uninstalling properly either.
Rather stay away from a complete reinstall of Windows atm, any solutions?
Thanks a lot
Also to add, it's hard for me to give any in-depth information, since I don't have access to the PC whenever I want (distance relationship). Trying to get her through each repair process has been a challenge
😀

Scroll halfway down this page and you'll see the heading "Disable Automatic Driver Download from Windows update". It's a feature in windows: http://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-u...indows-10/. Why are you attempting to uninstall the driver? Since you wish to reinstall it, as this has been occurring. Uninstalling the driver and Windows updates will reinstall it. Also, what does "it'll go into airplane mode on its own sometimes, even though it has no wireless devices whatsoever or a UPS" mean? Have you tried connecting the gaming computer directly with an Ethernet cable?

Why are you trying to uninstall the driver? Because you want to re-install it, because that's what has been happening. You uninstall the driver and windows updates re-installs it.
ALso what does this mean "it'll go into airplane mode on it's own sometimes, even though it has no wireless devices whatsoever or a UPS"
Have you tried hardwiring the gaming computer with an Ethernet cable?
I see, thanks for the link, I'll give that a go at some point.
Yes the only reason I'm trying to fully uninstall it is so I can re-install it from fresh again, since I believe this to be part of the airplane mode issue she's having.
The PC is wired up entirely, has no wireless devices connected, and no network card. But yeah, it still goes into airplane mode on it's own sometimes, I know it sounds weird, but it just does it randomly.
This is a separate issue right now though, I've posted in several forums about it and nothing has worked yet, so don't worry about helping with that
😀
I'll reply again after I've tried the solution in that link.

I finally gave it a shot. The same problem keeps happening—the driver doesn’t uninstall completely and airplane mode turns on automatically. :/

Have you reached out to the maker for assistance with your new setup?

I constructed it using parts I specifically selected. Who should I reach out to?
