ASUS X541N works with any WiFi network and Ethernet, but it doesn’t reach the internet. The IPCONFIG lists a loop IP (169...), so it’s not adding the network to the sharing list as “Unidentified Network.” After troubleshooting, only CMD prompts helped a bit. Since it’s Windows 10, try restarting the network adapter or checking for driver updates.

I didn’t have time to handle that with them back then, so I’m focusing on it now. I’m also removing McAfee that was installed there, which blocked my work on the firewall. I’ll keep updating the post once I’ve fixed the drivers.

Driver updates didn't help much—just downloaded them directly from ASUS. I ran several commands via CMDprompt, like netsh and winsock, but nothing worked. After that, I restarted the PC multiple times (about four or five) and it started functioning again. I removed another security app called Webroot and uninstalled the Qualcomm adapter, then rebooted once more. I also downloaded Malawarebytes for free, updated their Windows Defender rules, and deleted all old antivirus files. They seem suitable for browsing the web and gaming, covering most essentials.

Be ready for Malwarebytes to wrap up its free test and keep bothering you by demanding payment for the upgrade, while you’ll face a lot of effort to get rid of it.

I've had consistently positive experiences with MB. I usually rely on the free version. I tend to wait for signs of issues before scanning, and they inform me about paid options, which makes sense. May had a negative encounter with Windows 10 alerts, so I turned off notifications for certain apps to avoid that.

You mentioned the specific command prompt tools you attempted. Did you follow the sequence of '/release' and '/renew' commands? The issue persists.

You have the option to end the trial right after installation. That’s the approach I usually take. This should reduce any issues for you.

I didn’t find any success, but I tried those commands and “netsh int ip reset”, “netsh winsock reset”.
