I recently purchased a CM1000 and an R8000, and my internet plan is 1Gbps from Xfinity. I’m facing an issue where the CM1000 isn’t sending internet to my computer like it used to, and the R8000 isn’t delivering the expected 950Mbps download speed. After two hours of support with Netgear Tech, they didn’t seem informed and eventually reset the router three times. It worked for a while but then performance dropped again, now showing speeds between 500-650Mbps with high latency (5-9ms). I suspect the problem might be with the router itself, possibly due to an incorrect MAC address setup. I’m unsure which MAC address to use—should it match the R8000 or my computer, or the CM1000 on the R8000? It’s confusing for me with networking concepts. Can you guide me through this? Thank you.

They focus solely on the modem's MAC address for registration in their network. Beyond that, no further action is required regarding the MAC address.

I figured it out on my own again. The issue was with the windows themselves. But neither Xfinity nor Netgear’s tech support seems to know how to fix it.
