Hey, I have a Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER motherboard and my Edifier S350DB speakers are plugged in using an optical cable. My PC runs Windows 10 or Windows 11. Normally the sound works fine and stays stable, but when I use Netflix (or Disney Plus), it makes a short crackling noise right away and then the audio stops completely. If I stream through my browser instead of the app, there is no problem at all. Could you please give some tips to fix this? Thanks so much!

You're working with two tricky operating systems on one machine? I call them problematic because Microsoft has been a bit fussy about tweaking things or using dual booting since Windows 8 (and up). I think it's definitely dual booting because you used that slash to mean you have both. Do you remember which version of Windows 10 you were on when you started, and if you upgraded to Windows 11? Which browsers have you tried to figure out if the apps are causing the problem? I'm assuming there aren't any other ways these speakers connect or receive signals besides just power, an optical cable, and the satellite speakers themselves. If you're using the newest BIOS version on...

Windows 10 or Windows 11? You've got two annoying versions running on one computer? I mean, annoying because Microsoft has been weird since Windows 8 and up, messing around with tweaks or trying to run both at once. Since you mentioned a slash (/), I'm guessing you're dual booting. Did you know which Windows 10 version you started on, if you switched to Windows 11? What browsers have you tried just to make sure it's the apps causing the trouble? I think there are no other ways sound gets in or out except from power and that single optical cable (plus your satellite speakers), right? If you have the newest BIOS installed on your motherboard, try deleting your audio drivers first, then go back and re-install them with the latest ones from Gigabyte's website, just make sure to do this through an elevated command window. Right click the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

It might be because your speakers don't understand the special codes that play high-quality music. What kind of sound cards are you using? Are they built right into the computer or another piece of hardware like a graphics card connected through HDMI to an old TV, maybe with an optical cable? If those integrated parts aren't working, check the settings in your soundcard menu for digital audio output and make sure it's set to PCM.
