I've observed that Nerd³'s Steam Curator page, which likely ranked among the top 100,000 followers, has been taken down. He shared a YouTube video clarifying his reasoning. The video offers an engaging overview but suggests Valve should handle more curation duties. While I appreciate the insights he provides, it's unclear how such changes would affect users' Steam collections if the service were ever discontinued.

This whole situation seems absurd. Are individuals really incapable of making independent choices about which games to enjoy?

He had concerns about several aspects of Steam's operations. Having a creator page meant he technically earned Ad Revenue through Steam since his content was widely promoted there. He found it odd to both criticize and profit from the same platform. Eventually, he removed the page. His main issues centered around Greenlight, which he saw as a popularity game where popular titles overshadowed others with strong video potential. A mediocre game could gain visibility if you made good videos about it, while a solid title might be overlooked. Early Access games often had bugs and most didn’t function properly at launch. Releasing games without features and gradually improving them didn’t suit every title. Additionally, both platforms allowed low-quality games to enter, and Steam’s handling of these matters was criticized because they take a cut, reducing their incentive to remove problematic content. Lastly, the Steam Support team was perceived as unresponsive, which added to his frustration.

It's not about receiving instructions; decisions require reliable input from an unbiased source. Without that, choices are based on assumptions and rumors. This isn't independent reasoning—it's acting without solid evidence, which is self-deception.

I believe he might have remained on Steam and continued challenging them. Still, it’s nice that he’s voicing his thoughts. Steam is the dominant platform and relies on the community to maintain transparency. LOL, right? They’re just opinions—stop treating them like commands.
