You can reduce the smallest partition and then form a fresh one from the remaining space. I typically use DiskPart or Disk Management, but note that Solus isn’t an OS—on Linux you’d need GParted instead.

Yes, you can start from a live USB and run your system directly without installing anything.

It's best to avoid tampering with active partitions and use third-party tools instead. That's why I set up more than one partition before installing different operating systems. A Live USB can handle this task.

Start with a running OS such as Solus Install USB. Utilize tools like GParted, PartitionManager, or GNOME Disks to reduce the size of the main OS partition. Afterward, add a new partition at the end. Filesystems such as ext4 can handle live shrinking correctly.
