Needs assistance with a very slow internet connection on one computer.
Hi All - I just installed a new dedicated modem and wireless router in my home network. Almost all devices are functioning normally, but one computer is experiencing extremely slow internet (below 1 Mbps) on both wired and wireless connections. It worked fine before the upgrade. I’ve adjusted the QoS to the highest priority, but there’s still no improvement or metering issue. I’m unsure what might be causing this problem. A BIOS update could be worth checking?
It looks like you're suggesting someone has a good sense of what's going on. I booted up an Ubuntu system I had saved and my performance returned to normal. Before, I looked at the drivers for my network hardware and the tool confirmed they were current... perhaps a manual update would be better? Solution Update: this might assist others later. After reviewing the setup and toggling devices off and on, I discovered it was a program named cFosSpeed that was causing the issue—ironically, it's bloatware intended to improve internet speed. I removed it decisively. Edited January 16, 2021 by archTECTONIC Solution found
