Hello! Based on your setup, I’d suggest checking out compatible AMD Ryzen 3 or older Intel Core i3 processors for a smooth upgrade. For the motherboard, the ASUS M5A78L-LE supports those CPUs and offers good value. You can also look into a USB 3.0 port if you want faster connectivity. With your budget, these options should work well without breaking the bank. Let me know if you need more details!

What kind of power supply do you have? And which graphics card are you using?

The FX6100 is an AM3+ socket CPU, so upgrading directly isn’t possible outside the FX range. I think this FX series was known as "Bulldozer." It seems those models aren’t particularly strong. Around 550 USD you could fit a Ryzen 5600x and an AM4 motherboard, which would be a major improvement. You’ll also need new DDR4 RAM.

You have two Crucial Ballistix DDR4 2666MHz 8GB sticks. Are they suitable for your upgrade? You might want to consider getting sticks with higher speeds, such as DDR4 3600, if you need better performance.

Sure, I understand. If you already have the RAM, it's okay. Feel free to ask about the other components.

For gaming, I suggest opting for 12400f. If you're into video editing, consider a Ryzen 7 or similar processor.

If you have the components listed, they should work fine. Ryzen recommends 3600 MHz RAM, but other speeds are acceptable. A 550W power supply will suffice for a 5600X and 1070Ti, while a 650W unit supports a 5900X and 1070Ti.

Checking for a compatible AM4 board online... This setup includes the Ryzen 7 5800X, Asus TUF B550, and Scythe Mugen 5 cooler.
