Hello, I'm looking for assistance with my PC built in September last year. It's experiencing crashes when trying to boot high-end or even some medium games, often shutting down completely before starting. While lower-end titles like League of Legends and Genshin Impact run fine, complex games such as Witcher 3 fail to load properly. I've tried various fixes—driver updates, fresh OS installs, memory tests, and more—but nothing seems to work. The issue has been ongoing for months, starting around October. I'm considering returning to Nvidia or replacing the components, but I'd really appreciate any suggestions from others before making a decision. My system specs include: Ryzen 9 9950X, MSI MPG 870e, edge TI Wi-Fi, Corsair Vengeance 32GB, 1TB Western Digital SSD, Sapphire Pulse RDNA 2, RX 9070 X, and a Lian Li 1300W 80+ Platinum PSU.

Consider reducing your GPU's power cap to 80% using MSI Afterburner and check if it resolves the problem.

Set up HWiNFO64 and view GPU stats like average, hotspots, and VRAM usage during stress tests. Edited Jan 26 by leclod

It seems the system is shutting down because of temperature issues, as suggested by @leclod. Are you keeping an eye on your temperatures? Also, have you updated the BIOS?

I've updated the latest bios as of yesterday (1-25-26). Measuring performance under extreme conditions is challenging since the system crashes immediately under medium to heavy loads or during stress tests. For example, while playing Minecraft, temperatures reached 35.0°C on GPU average, 51.2°C on hotspot, and 38.3°C on VRAM. This issue persisted despite those readings. The watchdog logs show frequent GPU driver timeout errors when this occurs.

hotspot at 16° while idle seems elevated (measured 11° on my 3070), possibly needing repasting and a thermal pad inspection? Updated January 26 by leclod

Maybe I could give it a shot. I don’t like disassembling it just in case I need to return it.

Sure, RMA is a better option. Did you test it without the GPU and with the IGPU?

I just experienced a very slow deadlock on my IGPU, unable to reach the main menu even with the 9070xt activated, but I managed when the card was enabled.

The GPU might not be properly connected; try reseating it or it could be faulty.
