I have a computer with an old Core i7-4790K processor. My current memory sticks are Corsair Vengeance Pro, 8GB each, running at 2400Mhz on DDR3. I wanted to upgrade this to 16GB of RAM, but there was no DDR3 RAM available near my house. So, I bought a Corsair XMS3 stick that is actually 8GB with 1600Mhz speed instead. Now all my memory sticks run at the same speed because they are all 1600Mhz. I am wondering if it would be safe to overclock these 8GB sticks from 1600Mhz up to 2133Mhz, and what timings should I set for that? Also, how much voltage do I need? If I try this overclocking, could something go wrong or fry my memory sticks or the motherboard? What is the worst thing that can happen if you overheat your RAM? Thanks.
