Need to fix a broken Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14D? Ask for help with getting it working again.
Hey, I've got this old Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14D that my family used a lot when they were young. The real specs are: Intel® Celeron® CPU N2830 running at 2.16GHz with 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB HDD (just the basic Toshiba one). It runs really slow to even open File Manager, which takes almost a minute. It's practically useless if you don't swear. I want to fix it up so I can have a second PC running Linux or a light version of Windows just to geek out over things without needing too much power. My plan is to swap the hard drive for a 240 GB SSD, and then use an adapter to make the old HDD work instead of the CD drive. Then I'll change the RAM up to 8 GB and finally switch the power cord from AC to USB-C. All this for less than $56 (about 50€). Is it worth spending a little money on this? Thanks so much for reading, and I appreciate your help.
The only thing I recommend is getting a bit larger hard drive, just to show you what's possible. You can find it on Amazon.
Thanks, so I'll spend a bit more money to get about twice as much room - that works out okay.
