Need tips on HOTAS and rudder configuration? Let me know how I can assist!
I'm trying to get my Thrustmaster Warthog hotas working for Elite Dangerous. It's my first time using one in a game, and I didn't purchase the hotas as a birthday gift. I saw online that they don't work well without rudder paddles, so I bought the Flight Rudder Pedals instead. I found a configuration profile online but haven't seen one that matches both pedals and the target software. I'm not sure about the setup process or the interface. If anyone has advice or tips, it would be really helpful. I also have your profile link if you need more details.
Currently, your throttle and pedals are acting identically, but I'm not sure what's causing it.
Typically after connecting them and configuring the machine, you’ll need to adjust game settings and map the joystick functions in the section labeled “joystick.” Even with a straightforward Extreme Pro 3D, this process was necessary. What you’re aiming for usually depends on what the setup is meant for: peddles often handle left-right rotation or rolling, while the joystick can manage pitch (and possibly a blend of pitch and roll). Throttle should be configured in the game under the “throttle” area. Avoid using the percentage throttle part for hotas—save that for keyboard shortcuts. Trying this game requires experimenting to find the best setup for your system, as each setup varies. After that, customize frequently used options like hardpoints, silent running, cargo scoop, sensors, landing gear, and lights onto additional buttons on the hotas.
Apologies for missing the response—I thought the thread had ended. My problem was with the setup; my rudder pedals and throttle were displayed as identical, which confused me because I couldn't set pitch since it was behaving like the throttle, and vice versa. After reviewing videos and using the target software to adjust the output type, everything is now working properly. Thanks for the help!
