I'm tackling this project and need to arrange several cameras on the site. The outdoor pole setup (3-4 poles plus 8 on the building) is manageable, but we're missing an alarm system. The current setup uses Ubiquiti NVR cameras, yet there are no sirens or motion-activated lighting. We're looking for a robust NVR solution that supports high-quality 2K-4K cameras and integrated sirens with lights. Since the area is wooded with fencing, we want reliable sirens that trigger lights on detection but can't rely on generic Amazon Zigby alarms. The setup will require a local network between locations, possibly needing a second NVR for redundancy. I'm open to creative ideas or hybrid approaches—maybe combining Home Assistant with custom solutions—but anything less than solid protection is not acceptable.

Sirens usually need an alarm permit. Be mindful of what you expect. Working with the police department is a nightmare in my view. They kept pressuring me after I turned off my home alarm. They asked odd questions like “if the alarm were to go off, could someone hear it?” And I replied “yes but it’s not on!” They hesitated to end my permit even though I canceled my service. Could be a local issue? Still worth checking. Any insurance company requirements?

A new system is being implemented, replacing only one camera with a siren. The current configuration has four cameras, and I prefer to upgrade rather than add more. I’m considering Lorex and Reolink models that include built-in sirens, but they don’t offer the same flexibility or expansion as Ubiquiti solutions.
