Okay so here's the deal, I have been plagued by constant crashes while gaming for over a year and I have tried everything under the sun to try and troubleshoot it. I have recently replaced my motherboard and now have been getting blue screens that have indicated that the errors are associated with graphics drivers. I have dump files for the most recent crash but I'm not sure how to post them. I have tried reinstalling drivers multiple times as well as I have recently completely wiped my computer and reinstalled windows to no avail. I did notice that when I had a fresh copy I somehow acquired the most recent NVIDIA drivers before I had even downloaded the software. These crashes usually happen 5-10 minutes after I've opened up a game and I've gotten either a blue screen or I've also had the game simply close before as well. Here are my specs: Intel I9 9900KF, NVIDIA gtx 1070Ti, STRIX Z390-H gaming MOBO, and 32gb DDR4 RAM and I'm using a NZXT H510 case. Anything that can help is greatly appreciated.
What game or games crash? What if any game works without crashing? Check your PSU for details like make, model, wattage, age, condition (brand new to old), and see what happens in Reliability History and Event Viewer when things go wrong. Look at error codes, warnings, and even messages that happen right before or while a crash occurs. How are the graphics drivers being installed? Are you using a third party installer or just downloading them directly from the manufacturer's site? Use only direct downloads and install them manually without any extra tools or programs.
Before I bought a new motherboard, only GTA, Sea of Thieves, and Dying Light would crash without a blue screen. After my new board arrived, almost every game started crashing. Even games like CS:GO, Rocket League, and League of Legends that used to work fine are now failing. My power supply is an EVGA 750W one from a friend. It has no problems with it, but I've had it for three or four years. I checked the voltages on it and everything looked normal. The Reliability Monitor shows some things, but I don't know how to read what they mean in Event Viewer yet.
Reliability History is easy to use and tells you what went wrong. Event Viewer is hard to read and take a while to learn. It's been around for 3 to 4 years and might be used for heavy gaming. The PSU could be getting old (End of Life) and starting to break down. Most likely this happens when the computer needs a lot of power. Try swapping in a working PSU if you can. If it has modular parts, just use only the cables that come with the original box.
Could a broken power supply make your computer show driver errors? Probably not, but bad things can create wrong codes that don't actually mean what they say. It took some time to get this power supply working. It ran for a bit, then suddenly showed up with another blue screen error saying system_service_exception. Looking at the crash log, it looks like svchost.exe crashed, but I'm not sure what that actually means or why.
