I've passed my old PC to my little sister recently, and she's mostly just played Sims on it. She's looking for something new, but I'm not sure what she wants. The machine only has a 6600k chip with built-in graphics, which makes it tricky to decide what would be best. I plan to get a GPU for her eventually, but right now I'll wait until things settle down at work.

Find a used card similar to the 1070 for around £200 or less, and it pairs nicely with the CPU.

Maybe you're asking if the CPU is working properly.

Hmm, what kinds of games does your sister enjoy? Roleplaying, simulations, strategy, or first-person shooters? PC Building Simulator would be a straightforward choice, likely playable at low graphics settings. It's currently on sale on Steam with a 40% discount, priced at $11.99. The game rarely goes on sale, though. *soft murmur* HEARTBEAT is a charming RPG — appealing in looks, characters, and plot. It’s also very beginner-friendly. The best part was how few distractions there were compared to other RPGs: no tedious backtracking, no confusing companions, and a story that moved me emotionally. Stardew Valley feels similar to Harvest Moon, a farming sim with customizable towns and optional dungeons. Just a note: the content includes alcohol and smoking, so it can be quite engaging.

Assuming a solid power supply is available, I’d consider a used 1070 or 1080, or perhaps a VEGA 56 or 64. On the more budget-friendly side, a used RX 580 could be worth checking out—recent deals have shown it for under $100. These are mainly older models that were popular for mining and might not be in top shape. If your system lacks a good PSU or has no VGA ports, a used 750 Ti might fit, especially if you’re unsure about the games she wants to play. At this point, I wouldn’t go for a new card just yet, since RDNA 2 and Ampere are coming soon. The 6600k is also starting to struggle in some modern titles, which likely won’t improve much with next-gen consoles. Unless she’s flexible on genre, it might not be worth the investment given the budget constraints. As for games, it really depends on her preferences—RPGs like Disco Elysium or Pillars of Eternity work well on an integrated GPU, while strategy titles often rely on single-core performance and don’t need much power. Shooter or open-world action games might be limited to older titles or e-sports releases.
