I recently installed an i5 9600k with 16GB Corsair RGB Pro RAM at 3600MHz. I’ve noticed my CPU reaching over 60°C during idle and between 90–100°C under load. Anyone have suggestions on resolving this issue? I’m currently using a pretty good air cooler and fresh thermal paste, but the CPU still runs hot even at standard speeds.
Currently I have a fan on intake and another on exhaust, with the power source maintaining its own heat management system.
Airflow is extremely low, yet I’m not convinced it explained those unusually high temperatures.
I'm not sure if it's the fans either. I still think there might be a bigger issue with the cooler. I have an 8600k in a 4 bay NAS ITX case with just one 120mm exhaust fan that needs to manage two 7200RPM HDDs, two 5200RPM HDDs, and the CPU is a stock Intel cooler where the single exhaust fan seems to struggle. It runs at 37°C in a 21°C room, only reaching 100°C under Prime95 which isn't a typical load, so it shouldn’t be a big problem. My 9900k also fits in an ITX case and idles between 38-50°C, with the fans turning off completely at idle, though it uses a Noctua NH-D15S cooler that covers most of the case.
