Need some guidance to start playing?
I followed the same route and ended up with similar thoughts on both threads.
The game is running and functioning, though currently only the social module (where you explore a reasonably large area and interact with others) and dogfighting module (where you engage in aerial combat) are available. 2. The ongoing universe remains in its initial alpha stage, meaning changes are possible anytime, but it's likely most ships will be accessible within the game (perhaps hidden by achievements or military events). 3. Every vessel is solid, each has a specific purpose and cost. Pick the one that suits you best. You can begin with the least expensive option and upgrade later if you're not satisfied. 4. The "Organization" (the proper name) is very busy and runs an IRC/VoIP system, with many participants active there.
I see how the crowdfunding process functions and I’m ready to help. Do you have any alternative ideas for researching the starter ships? I’m open to spending about $70 to back the game.
There are numerous reviews and opinion pieces about current ships available online. The main website also features a basic "ship spec" section that outlines its capabilities regarding cargo, crew size, and hardpoints. Additionally, the Big SCAM, a comprehensive Star Citizen Admirer's Manual, is widely used on RSI forums and spans hundreds of pages.
325a stands out as a swift, well-prepared combat version of a high-end vessel. It offers a comfortable ride and is generally easy to manage. Its loader is strong if you prefer a marksman role; though the fire rate is modest, its guns deliver solid performance. It comes equipped with four size 2 missiles—currently the largest weapons available in the game, which are typically used on bigger ships. Removing the front gimbal allows for renting and installing a Mantis Chaingun, one of the most potent guns in the game at present.
The Avenger is a durable, fast, and powerful ship with solid armor and impressive shields. It features a size 3 nose gun that remains fixed but provides rapid fire capability, along with two size 1 laser repeaters on its wings (upgradable to size 2). It can withstand significant damage and inflict considerable harm. Its main drawback is vulnerability to glare from direct sunlight.
The Aurora LN leads the Aurora line with advanced features and four hardpoints plus missiles. While it excels, it tends to be slower and less resilient to heavy hits compared to others. The 300i serves as a budget alternative similar to 325a but with fewer upgrades; however, you can still add rented gear to enhance its capabilities.
I think the most effective approach is to visit the Game Packages section of the store, arrange items by cost, and explore all available ships that fit your budget. Feel free to ask questions in the community forum—there are many supportive members. I recommend checking out the Origin Jumpworks 325A or the Aegis Dynamics Avenger.
