Need some CSGO frame updates? Let me know what you're looking for!
Hey there, welcome back! This is your first time reaching out after a long pause. I recently switched from a 980 to an Aorus Elite 2 3060 Ti (DDU was used in safe mode), paired it with an Intel i5 10600K, 32GB DDR4 RAM with XMP enabled for 3200MHz. CSGO worked well back then, but lately I've noticed some hiccups. My average FPS is up a bit now, though I’m seeing occasional freezes and drops—sometimes it hits 100 or even lower on maps. It usually happens around 300-400 FPS, depending on the map, and only lasts for a split second. The biggest concern is that it can drop to 20 or less, which is pretty concerning.
I’ve checked my CPU usage in Task Manager, and it looks like four cores are consistently busy. NZXT Cam shows low CPU load, but my GPU temps stayed under 50°C even with demanding games. I installed new fans recently, which helped a lot, and the room was cool (around 20°C). I tried disabling fullscreen optimization for CSGO and turning off the high-precision event timer, but it didn’t fix the problem.
I’m not sure if the frame drops were before or after the fans, but they seem to appear after. I haven’t played much CS recently, so I’m open to suggestions. If you have any tips or a troubleshooting guide, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for your help!
I didn’t account for testing any kind of overclocking on my GPU, even modest increases like +20 MHz. When I load a map or server in CSGO, my monitors briefly go black for a few seconds. The game stays open, I can move and shoot, but the display doesn’t show anything. I see it in the taskbar and can click it, yet nothing appears on the screen. It only happens with CSGO, not other games. I suspect this is related to the game or software rather than hardware issues. I’ve set the clock speed to +80 MHz, increased power limit by 10%, and raised the temperature threshold to 7°C, but no problems occur in other games running at lower temperatures. This might help others figure out what’s going on with my CS.
CSGO actually gains from the single core speed, though I’m not sure if it’s related to the GPU. It seems the number 83 is a bit higher than expected, but I can’t explain why you’re seeing those lows clearly. You might want to try lowering your RAM speed or adjusting the XMP profile—just because you can switch doesn’t guarantee stability. Reinstalling CSGO or doing a fresh Windows install could help. I own a Gainward dual fan 3060 Ti and haven’t seen high temperatures lately.
Sure, I’ll try using XMP disabled or a lower speed and let you know what happens. I’ve used it for a while before switching to the 3060ti, so there could be some issues now.
Turning off XMP seemed to resolve the frame lag problems in CSGO, and disabling full-screen optimization stopped the strange overclock issue in CS. Although performance might have dropped in other games, I’m considering a clean CS install to test with XMP enabled again. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just turn it off before playing. Thanks for your assistance!
The temperature you mentioned isn’t that extreme for a GPU, especially in low-intensity games. The 83-degree reference was from older setups with poor airflow, but your current case improvements have helped keep things stable. The extra intake fans and placement are making a noticeable difference, bringing temps down well below 80 or even 70 in most games.
