Hi! I’d love some advice on my overclocking plans. I have these specs: Intel Core i5-9600K, 3.7 GHz, six cores, LGA1151 socket, and the ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E gaming board with LED lighting. My system runs on a MSI motherboard with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and GeForce RTX 2060 graphics. I’m also using a Silver/Black cooler master and a Hyper 212 Black Edition fan. I’ve managed to get stable overclocks up to 4.8 GHz at 1.3V, but pushing it to 5.0 GHz requires the core voltage to jump to around 1.425V—something that feels risky for long-term health. Why does the chip demand such a high voltage for a stable 5.0 GHz run?

It's quite typical once you hit a certain threshold you need to boost the voltage significantly to achieve only a marginal speed increase. The exact moment varies from one CPU to another—like a silicon lottery. You can't assume all CPUs perform identically; it depends on the quality of the chip, whether it's good, average, or mediocre.
