Need some advice for oc
My configuration:
I5 4690k processor @ 3.5ghz
MSI Z97 gaming 5 ATX LGA1150
Corsair H100i 77 cfm liquid cooler
Kingston Hyper X Fury 8x2
Evga Gtx 980 superclocked ACX 2.0
Thermaltake v71 ATX full tower
Currently performing an AIDA64 stability test (CPU, FPU, cache and system memory only)
Duration so far is about 25 minutes
Current temperature is around 55-60°C at 1.116v
Target temperature is 44 or possibly 46°C
Recommended setting from a Linux video was 1.2v for 4.6
I have some questions:
Many people say 1.3v is risky?
Will I need to extend the test to several hours, or just a full day?
Besides CPU ratio and voltage, what other adjustments should I consider in OC Genie (MSI OC motherboard software)?
And finally,
Any advice for me?
your aio will restrict how much you can overclock your cpu
as you raise more voltage, the ai will have to release more heat
it’s not advised to go beyond 1.3 volts since that could harm the cpu
i don’t exceed 1.3v
here are some simple tips for basic overclocking
first, test how far your core ratios can be increased before the system fails to boot
then, if you hit the core ratio limit, raise the voltage by 0.25 and try again
keep repeating steps 1 and 2 carefully
remember to watch your temperatures closely!!!
once you determine your maximum overclock setting on the cpu, lower the voltage by 0.10 to fine-tune the levels
