Need quick assistance? The Asus X55A won’t boot on Windows—here’s how to fix it fast!
Hello everyone, I'm facing an issue with my parents' laptop, which is an Asus X55A. It won't boot into Windows. They mentioned it frequently shut down after use. Since they're the tech-savvy one, they suggested fixing it. When I power on the machine, the first error message appears as Windows Error Recovery. From there, I'm limited to choosing between starting normally or launching Startup Repair. Attempting normal startup leads to a reboot after a short time. They mentioned that reinstalling Windows might be the best solution, but there are important files on the HDD they need. I tried removing the HDD and used a link to transfer files via an external case, but only recovery files showed up—not the necessary ones. I also checked the BIOS settings; it didn't recognize the HDD at all, only showing Windows Boot Manager and Slimtype DVD A. The boot options in the menu were empty. I explored Advanced Boot Settings, but Safe Mode didn’t help—it just loaded Windows files before rebooting again. I tried disabling automatic restarts on failure, but it triggered a blue screen when the system attempted to restart after a failed boot. I’ll attach an image of the error message for reference. I’m hoping you can find a way to access the HDD files and help me resolve this. If you have any ideas, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.
The BSOD sounds like the Windows partition is damaged. I'm not a specialist, but it might mean all data on that drive is gone. You could try placing the drive inside your desktop PC without an enclosure. Another option is to boot from a Linux live CD and use it to restore files.
