Hey everyone, I recently boosted my AMD FX-4350 to a stable 4.6 GHz. The tests show the CPU stays under 45°C even during heavy use. I increased the voltage by .01 volts. Is that sufficient? Could I push it further with more voltage? Will this really help gaming performance, or might it shorten the processor's lifespan? I’m thinking about getting an FX-8350 soon, so this is just a trial run. Thanks a lot!

Not much. Do you think it will last forever? You could shave a year off a seven-year lifespan. I've boosted all my CPUs that can handle it, bringing them to a safe level, though some cost more than $300 to replace. I'm comfortable with a six-year lifespan. If needed, I can always reduce the wick.

I don't have a specific motherboard or PSU, but I can help you find the right ones based on your needs.

What motherboard and power supply unit are you using? I own an AMD 970 GAMING motherboard and a CX500M PSU from Corsair.

Great product, but a better PSU will help if this one fails. It's a solid item, though gaming will wear it down quickly. Check out the discussion here.

DonkeyOatie shares feedback on the motherboard and suggests a better PSU if it fails. He notes the CPU is decent but gaming will wear it down quickly. He invites others to check the thread for more details.

Good start. Review the Bulldozer guide you linked and feel free to ask questions. Will this affect your CPU lifespan?

DonkeyOatie is sharing their thoughts on longevity and the trade-offs involved. They mention adjusting CPU speeds to extend lifespan but acknowledge the limitations. The tone remains casual and reflective.
