Hi everyone. I recently purchased a much-needed upgrade for gaming, but I’m not sure if it’s safe or allowed. I’ve never overclocked before, so I’m worried about breaking my warranty even though HP says you can "overclock" for better performance. Here are my specs:

- Intel Core i5-6400, 2.70GHz
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 3GB GDDR5 VR Ready
- 8GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM
- 1TB hard drive, 7,200RPM
- Windows 10 Home
- Ultra Slim-tray SuperMulti DVD Burner
- 7-in-1 media card reader
- 10/100/1000 network ports
- 1x1 802.11ac wireless
- Bluetooth 4.2 M.2

I’d really appreciate any tips or advice on handling this. Thanks!

We should determine the type of motherboard you're using. If your processor supports turbo boost up to 3.3ghz, it's likely an i5 6400k (???) processor. To identify your motherboard, open Run (Win+R), type cmd.exe, press Enter, and run the command: ---- wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer, version, serialnumber. This should provide details like Manufacturer and Product. You can also refer to this guide for assistance.

To perform overclocking you need a K series chip and a compatible MoBo. Your current CPU doesn't meet the requirements, and the specific MoBo model isn't mentioned.

I think I should share more details. Here’s what I found:
Processor information includes a CPU Summary with a Core i5 at 6400 (2.7GHz), Quad-Core configuration, and Intel branding. The CPU features a Smart Cache of 6MB, DMI3 front side bus at 8GT/s, and LGA 1151 socket. It supports one installed CPU and one supported CPU.
