His ASUS G750Js laptop stopped working after a Windows update. After restarting, it booted normally but kept looping through desktop icons in an endless refresh cycle. Task Manager showed many Thumbnail Handler Extraction processes running simultaneously and constant error reporting. I found a forum thread that might help: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...8a8?auth=1

Checking the internet suggests removing Norton might resolve the issue, have you attempted that before?

The device won't work if it doesn't react.

Only Task Manager functions; you can stop or terminate all processes there.

I attempted to stop the problematic tasks like Norton, but it reports an access denial.

Have you attempted to start in safe mode and then proceed from there?
