Hi, I'm trying to resolve a situation where a trojan appeared on my PC. A friend's Steam account was compromised, and a link was sent to me. I clicked it, assuming it was from him, but an executable file was automatically downloaded without me being able to stop it. Since I haven't opened it yet, I'm wondering if I'm safe right now. The file name is "Trade Offers," and it's causing issues with my antivirus tools. I attempted to delete it using the standard button, but it didn't work. When I tried using CMD with the DEL command, access was denied, as shown in the screenshots. I'm also dealing with a 120GB SSD and a 1TB WD Black drive, with libraries spread across individual folders. The file was downloaded yesterday after an update. I'm hoping someone can help remove it without permission, especially since it's affecting my gaming and school work. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or solutions!

Consider using Spybot or Malwarebytes to delete the file, or revert to a safe mode restart if needed.

I'm about to download Malwarebytes and run a scan. I'll share the findings once it's done. I also handled the malware check with Brink2Three—though the service didn't start because I never opened the file. It's unusual, but I clicked it because my real-life friends sometimes send me Steam links during games. I don’t usually do that, but I did after they mentioned something. -.- Well, I’ll let you know when Malwarebytes finishes.

Consider removing the malwarebytes file assassin or unlocker.

You might benefit from using a different drive or storage device, booting from there, and attempting to remove the file. In any case, avoid handling this on your own—even if you're familiar with computers. Have the professionals at a computer shop take care of it...

I usually keep computers I build safe from tech shops. I’ll handle it myself—my skills are enough. I could switch to another OS, like Linux, since I already have one on a different HDD in another media PC around the house. Appreciate the message!

GeekSquad is wrong 98.9% of the time. The majority of its staff are retail employees who recently received a raise, which is quite concerning.
