I have some worries about drivers and mouse pads, like the one you mentioned (I'm using a mouse right now to help with the setup).

Don't stress, just link the Wi-Fi and refresh Windows or you can get drivers manually from the official site by typing your serial number or model number. You'll usually see it on the back of your laptop. If the laptop still can't get drivers automatically, connect your phone's internet through USB and try downloading them. Everything will work fine, don't worry.

After the setup completes, it prompts you to restart. Once restarted, it will automatically return to the original setup menu. Proceed accordingly.

I believe the issue was resolved by eliminating the USB.

Feeling like I've spent more time than expected is making me anxious.

don't take the USB drive off! try to see if it boots up correctly. if not, you might need to reinstall the OS again. after installation, when restarting, pick your SSD instead of the USB drive so it starts properly.
