Need higher frame rates in your 1440p ultra-wide games...
I own a Ryzen 7 2700X, an RTX 2070, 16GB RAM, Rog crosshair viii hero, plus a 240GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. I purchased a 1440p ultra-wide monitor recently for work—it works well. But during gaming, the high resolution is really hurting my FPS. The GPU market is crazy with scalpers, and prices seem inflated. I’m wondering if there’s another upgrade I could make to boost my performance.
A CPU upgrade would certainly help, though the GPU remains the deciding factor.
Examine overclocking with MSI Afterburner. I own a 1070ti water-cooled unit already boosted to its peak performance. Also install a free benchmarking software; many options are available. Follow the tutorial video to learn how to adjust settings and then test stability. The process is simpler than it seems, and you'll discover how far your hardware can go. The GPU has constraints that may trigger shutdowns if pushed too hard, so push it to its boundaries safely. https://www.techradar.com/best/best-benchmarks-software https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner
Overclocking offers the most affordable option. Let me test both components if you haven’t done so yet.
