I have a prebuilt Dell G5 5000 that works well for gaming and school tasks. I’m planning to upgrade to an editing program that suggests more RAM. I’d like two 8GB 2666MHz sticks instead of one, since it looks like a better value. My current setup is an i5-10400F with 1650S motherboard and one 8GB stick at max speed. I’m wondering if adding another 8GB would be feasible—should I aim for three sticks or stick to two? Also, I have three fans (CPU, GPU, and back), and they keep things cool, but should I add more fans or just the RAM?

Choosing 2x or 4x ensures consistent dual-channel performance. For an 1650 Super and i5, the CPU shouldn’t produce excessive heat, meaning additional fans likely won’t improve cooling much.

The RAM options are: purchase one 8GB 2666MHz stick, add a pair and swap the original, buy two 8GB sticks together to fill all four slots, get a four-pack replacement for the single stick (not advised because of cost and upgradeability), or buy two sticks and use three in total (slightly lower performance but functional). For your fans, it's acceptable. I'm pretty sure there aren't more choices for mounting fans inside that Dell case anyway.
