Hello, I have $350 to invest in a new processor. I’m considering Ryzen but need to upgrade my motherboard and RAM since I already have an AMD FX 6300. I’d like some advice on the best options and the performance boost you can expect. Thanks!

Consider options around 3200MHz or 3600MHz for your needs. If possible, a CL16 would be ideal while staying within budget constraints.

If you own a machine already, wait a few months before purchasing the 4000 series.

I’d suggest this configuration works best. You can upgrade to a Samsung B-Die for faster memory speeds and better timings for an additional $30. Overall it’s a solid Hynix DJR board, so it should run well.

PCPartPicker has the parts listed:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core ($166.99)
- Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 ($115.00)
- RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 ($79.99)

Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts – totaling $361.98.

Alternatively, you could wait for a better deal if patience is an option.
