Need help understanding active directory
Hello everyone. I'm just beginning an apprenticeship at an IT support company, and a big part of my tasks involves managing the active directory. I've been offered a role that focuses on hardware and troubleshooting, but I'm still getting familiar with the active directory. I'm looking for a resource that explains it in a clear, practical way—something beyond just definitions. I've found so far only brief guides that describe functions without showing how everything connects in real life. Would anyone have suggestions for a more interactive or visual introduction? Thanks, Robert.
I learned Active Directory by experimenting a lot and making mistakes. I had access to a Windows Server 2012 VM along with some old Dell desktops and adjusted settings until I caused an issue. When I struggled with certain features, I turned to Microsoft Virtual Academy. The tutorials were detailed and helpful. A colleague mentioned the Windows Server 2012 guides on Lynda were also good, though they weren’t affordable at the time.
You're welcome, if it's on Lynda I have free access, so I'll check it out. Thanks!
