Consider updating to a fresh installation of Windows 10 and joining the Insider program for activation. This will also require using Insider versions.

You can obtain the Windows 8.1 ISO file and then transfer it to a USB stick or DVD for regular installation. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...resh-media You might purchase a Windows 8.1 license on Reddit for $15. https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap This is how I acquired it: https://www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwa...o_project/

For a fresh setup, yes. You can purchase a key and use it during the trial period. This way, you won’t lose any information since there’s no need for another installation.
