Need help overclocking g3258
I recently assembled my new computer and am struggling to achieve overclocking on the G3258. I've tried various methods and followed numerous online guides, but each attempt either fails to boot or results in a fixed 3.2ghz performance when using cpuz. Lowering the voltage or clock speed resolves the boot issue but doesn't change the locked speed. I'm beginning to suspect that my motherboard may not support overclocking. Here are the main parts I have.
the cpu isn't overclockable. you should have chosen an i5 model with a k at the end, such as a 4790k, which allows overclocking

The 4790k is actually an i7, not an i5, and the g3258 can be overclocked on many boards. It's the rare case I'm aware of that works on a non-Z board.
So does my motherboard support overclocking? I got it because I thought it did. And if so, can someone tell me the exact steps I need to take in order to overclock this thing? Preferably a person who is familiar to the gigabyte bios would be the best. But still any help is appreciated.
I think the f4 bios was the latest version available at that time. I changed my bios to the f7, which is the current release.
