i'm just starting with overclocking and your advice was really helpful. thanks for the support! i'm curious though, when i try to push my gpu to 4ghz it fluctuates in amd overdrive readings, but at 3.9ghz it stays stable. i used prime95 stress tests and got no errors or warnings. tnx beforehand.

amd overdrive is not ideal for OC software. It's better to install OC in the BIOS, then boot and test. The settings won't fluctuate or drop as they do in amd overdrive if you go too high. You can actually reach higher speeds than amd od allows through BIOS overclocking.

You might need a slight overvoltage to stabilize the new OC. You should be able to achieve 4.2 without issues, and possibly reach 4.6 or more depending on your cooling and chip quality. The A10 is the top performer among quad-core APUs, but it's not as strong as an FX CPU, so your OC might be limited.

Try small FFTs in P95 mode. If they run smoothly for 6 minutes without freezing, restart and continue OC until P95 freezes or the CPU hits 65°C. Going beyond 65°C isn't advised.

I open the BIOS, tweak the settings there. I used AMD overdrive for monitoring thermal temperatures. My voltage is at 1.35V, and I go to 4GHz last day with a voltage of 1.5V. I ran a stress test with prime95 and didn’t see any errors or warnings. However, I noticed my thermal margins dropped to 20°C. Is it safe to keep going?
