need help my PC is cursed
He and I assembled our PC about a month back and it functioned properly for a short time before repeatedly crashing. It displayed errors such as "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED", "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA" and "KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE". The machine would freeze, trigger a blue screen every 5 to 20 minutes, enter a boot loop, then stall and eventually crash again. It ran on Windows 11, but Windows 10 didn’t cause crashes—though HDMI and Ethernet stopped working completely, and six fans ceased spinning. I left it powered off due to extreme heat and insufficient cooling from just one fan out of seven. Recently I reinstalled Windows 11, but the HDMI still fails and the system remains unresponsive in Task Manager or iCUE, while Chrome shows a black screen after restarting. The GPU isn’t visible in Task Manager or iCUE, and internet speed is severely slow, making downloads take forever. I’m seeking solutions and have a PC build link if you need it.
I'm hesitant to disassemble it because most of its construction came from a friend who assembled it while I was watching it launch on NVIDIA's site.
It might be tough to fix if it's a hardware issue and you can't adjust settings. Consider resetting the CMOS, updating your BIOS, and checking if your RAM is operating at the right speed and timing. You could also ask a friend for assistance.
CMOS refers to the integrated circuit used in computers to store system settings. Updating BIOS typically involves accessing the motherboard BIOS settings and applying the latest version from the manufacturer’s website or a trusted source. Since your friend is unavailable, you may need to follow the official documentation or contact their support for guidance.
CMOS is a small amount of memory on your motherboard where BIOS settings are stored. resetting it will reset all your BIOS settings to factory default. It is done by shorting 2 pins together either by using a small jumper cap, or a flathead screwdriver, or basically anything that are made from electrically conductive metal. If you see your motherboard manual Page 12, you'll see the location of the 2 pins, it is named JBAT1. at Page 24, you'll see instruction on how to do it (Reset CMOS) BIOS is a basic program that the microcontroller on your motherboard use. BIOS update sometimes contain things like improved RAM compatiblity, etc How-To : Spoiler - Prepare a flashdisk, 8gb is enough. Format it as FAT32. - Go to MSI website for your particular motherboard, https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z690-A/support the latest BIOS version as of this post is 7D25vA7 - Download it. - Extract the .zip - Inside the extracted folder you'll see a file named "E7D25IMS" with file extension "A70", so that's E7D25IMS.A70 - Rename the file to MSI.ROM - Put the renamed file (ONLY THE FILE, NOTHING ELSE) in the flashdisk. - Take everything off the motherboard - Connect Power cable from your PSU to 24pin ATX & CPU - Plug the flashdisk to the designated USB port at the back I/O. (Check manual to know which, Page 10) - Press the Bios Flashback button, a led will light up. - Leave it alone until the led goes off. (The instruction also exist in the manual, Page 30) The video is for MSI B550m Mortar, but the method also works the same for your motherboard.
