I need to link my headset with the monitor (AOC 24g2u5), but when I access the sound control panel, it shows the correct device and works for playback, yet the microphone isn't detected.

Are you missing something by accident? You might also want to refresh the device drivers.

Your monitor doesn't have a Mike input, it's all USB. You can connect the device to your PC and turn off HDMI audio in Device Manager unless you're using monitor speakers.
