Currently running on an ASUS ROG X670E for my 7800X3D, I'm unable to raise its clock speed beyond 4.7 GHz, even though I tried setting it to 5.05. Any ideas? PSU: Seasonic Core 780W, AIO Thermal Right, 240 RAM, GSKILL 16x2, 6000 CL36. Only thermal limits are pushed up to 90°C and PBO is enabled in BIOS.

If a GPU is required, I’m running a rog 3080 with 10 gigabytes of VRAM.

I’m considering whether this could work and what approaches I’m taking. Are the core values aligned? If you’d like to enhance performance, I’m exploring a 9800x3D implementation.

You applied PBO +200 and CO -30 (or similar negative tweaks). Performance hits 5.05GHz. Check HWINfo64 instead of Task Manager. Quality metrics: 7800X3D, PBO -30 all cores, 4.90GHz per core, Cinebench 23: 18,401 multi, 1,779 single.

I'm using single-core software for the clocks.

Focus on one CPU core. The boost reaches 4.7Ghz, and the single core performance tops 5Ghz.

For the 7800X3D, 5GHz represents the peak performance, attainable mainly under lightly loaded tasks. Full-core speeds won't reach this limit. AMD prevents all-core from hitting 5GHz. On the 7000 series X3D processors, overclocking is restricted. You may apply Curve Optimizer to lower the voltage and turn on PBO, but you can't directly alter its boost settings. This restriction exists because the stacked 3D V-Cache acts as a thermal barrier between cores, making traditional overclocking risky—at least according to AMD. To achieve more stable clocks, use Curve Optimizer for an undervolt, which should aid thermal management and enhance boosting potential (since Ryzen performs better at cooler temps). That's the optimal approach for a 7800X3D. The 9000 series X3D CPUs remain the only ones with genuine overclocking flexibility.

I believed it could handle 5.05 across all cores XD. My bad.
