Hey everyone, recently my partner's PC stopped working completely. She was using a B550 gaming plus, Ryzen 5 5600G, Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB, AMD RX 6700 XT (10GB), Seagate 2TB HDD, and a Kingston 250GB SSD, all powered by a Corsair RM 850W PSU. We were playing Fortnite when her processor reached 96°C despite the cooling setup with an MSI MAG CoreLiquid 360mm AIO. She shut it down immediately afterward—it hasn't booted since. It only shows the CPU error light, and whether RAM is connected or not doesn’t make a difference. Even without any drives, it still doesn’t work. She replaced it with a Ryzen 3 3100, which should fit the B550 gaming plus, but both systems are now completely unresponsive. Any advice would be really helpful, we’re both really puzzled. ***edit**** Tried BIOS flashback!

It's conceivable the 3100 is no longer functioning. The CPU debug indicator might also show the 5600 as dead. Have you attempted moving the CPU from the cooler PC into the hotter one?

This setup seems unusual. It might relate to an overheating problem with the 5600G, possibly due to a faulty cooler or pump. A malfunctioning CPU could trigger the overheating sensor, preventing the system from booting. If both CPUs are present but on different boards with unclear origins, it adds another layer of complexity. Maybe the VRMs on the motherboard were damaged, affecting the processors. What hardware is installed? Is it compatible with these CPUs and running the latest BIOS? The 3100 was bought used or new? If used, it could simply be defective from the start. With a new unit, I’d suspect a power delivery issue could be at play. Such problems are uncommon but possible.

the 5600G remains operational, only cpu debug is active with no visible output from the monitor

identical board used in both setups, identical results from both machines... even though mine is functioning perfectly. both were cooled precisely the same, tried all possible methods—including transferring my CPU into the other machine—which still produced the same outcome. just monitored via CPU debugging without any display output.
