Brought a Samsung 860 Evo SATA M.2 but my motherboard isn't compatible with the NVMe seller, so I'm using an adapter for the Gigabyte B360M D3H model.

Sure, take your time reviewing the messages first. That motherboard does accept M.2 SSDs, which might help clarify the issue.
