It looks like the power supply might need an upgrade—it's not urgent and can be postponed. You can purchase the Q6600, and if it doesn<|pad|>, you'll save money by getting a higher-quality alternative.

I verified the motherboard details. It supports only up to 4GB of RAM. This suggests additional RAM won't be accepted.

Yes, that's accurate. You won't be able to upgrade the RAM, but 4GB is still sufficient. Just keep background tasks to a minimum.

Considering an 8GB RAM setup sounds solid. You might be able to stretch your budget a bit further. I just watched a video showing someone using an MSI G41-P34 board paired with the Quad Q6600.

The extra expense doesn't seem justified, but if you're still interested, I suggest a more up-to-date system: CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V That board only supports DDR3 RAM. This CPU performs well in modern games when overclocked to 4.7GHz and above.

Thank you for the ideas. I'll try my old board first. If it doesn't suit, I'll opt for the more costly choice.
