I'm looking for a new mainboard right now. Right now I'm using a Ryzen 7 2700X on a ROG Strix B450 F-Gaming rig. Eventually I plan to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 3700X or 3800X, with the latter being more likely. That's why I need to upgrade my mainboard because I understand these VRM coolers won't handle an overclocked 3800X well. Could anyone suggest good X470 boards under $180?

The 3800X consumes less power compared to the 2700X, which means everything is okay.

You can get a decent x570 at 180, or a b450 with updated bios. You also could wait for b550, but You can still use the b450-F. Buy a 3700x. Please. The 3800x is pointless. Better? By a bit. Worth it for the extra money? Not even close.

Many comparison clips show VRMs reaching over 100 degrees Celsius

It's acceptable since it isn't a semiconductor and won't fail under those high temperatures, though staying under 125°C could still be a concern
