I have an i7 7700k, rx480 and Corsair LX 2x8 2133 DDR4 on a Strix Z270H (max 3866 for memory). My daily usage is usually 50-60 GB, with occasional gaming that raises the load. Without shutting down my system, performance throttles. I rarely close it, so I’m unsure whether to purchase another identical setup or upgrade. If upgrading, what’s the most affordable route? I’m thinking of a budget 3600 2x8 kit—would that give me enough speed to avoid throttling? I only need about an extra 5 GB per day, and I render sometimes. Could I run my old system in the secondary slots with this new one? I’m trying to stretch my budget as far as possible. Memory is always been a challenge. The 5.2 GHz CPU clock or overclocking the GPU software isn’t really an issue. Memory? That’s confusing. Any advice on what would help me improve it? I bought the 2x8 at 2133 MHz expecting to upgrade later, probably during a price surge. Besides missing a few gigabytes, I don’t feel the need right now. Also, how often do Newegg sales hit this kind of deal? Any helpful tips or top picks would be great, please!
