Originally it was 11 years ago, and secondly I guess there aren't any companies without occasional issues.
They don't produce them either. Probably Clevo shells with some branding. The same applies to MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte and many others. They use a ready-made design, add a bit of branding and pick features, then sell it. Problems with a specific model will be resolved by the manufacturer or designer. Technology is always risky. If you're after older models, you only have early reviews to rely on. The lifespan of any platform remains uncertain when you review it.
I have limited the options to just two.
One is the MSI Vector 16 HX paired with the 5080 graphics card.
The other is trying PC Specialist’s 16" Recoil Overclockers, which comes with 32 GB RAM and two years of insurance. However, it has only 1 TB of storage, requiring additional space, and is available only via pre-order with uncertain delivery times.
Finding it elsewhere at Currys is possible, but they don’t provide a warranty. They mention a four-year warranty but don’t specify the number of USB ports, possibly indicating only two. Debenhams has it, though I’m unsure about the warranty details. Laptops Direct offers one year of warranty, while Scan lists two years, but claims there are only two USB ports despite images showing three.
The benefit of PC Specialist is flexibility in choosing storage and RAM without needing upgrades. In contrast, the MSI seems inconsistent, with varying specs across sites and unclear warranty terms.
Lastly, I recall a disappointing experience with them previously, along with some negative trustpilot reviews, which might reflect a pattern of issues.
The first rig I received from PC specialists is nine years old, and I got it when the GTX 1080 was just released. A few issues stood out for me regarding the delivery service—they use Drop Parcels Daily... see what they did with their... The PC arrived with a significant hole in the cardboard box; the parcel tape was missing from the bottom, which likely caused the guy to wheel it down the drive upside down. The front intake fan was loose inside the box. I’m not sure how this happened because when I tried to put it on myself, it was so tight that I thought it would break. The driver refused to help me move it into my home, just telling me to push it onto your carpet. I took around eight photos and sent them to PC specialist, then called them to confirm the situation. At that time, I told them I hadn’t started it yet, but fortunately everything was fine.
