I've faced a similar issue with my Gigabyte X570 Gaming X from 2019, running an R7 3700X. I updated the BIOS and it resolved the problem. From your message, it looks like your boot drive isn't an M.2, so you might want to verify the boot sequence and confirm it's not set to start from the M.2 slot.
this happened to me, here comes the AMD mess. I had to flash the BIOS, switch the boot mode to RAID, change it back, and then install Windows from a USB drive. Suddenly the drive appeared, and I was confused—can’t say for sure if it worked for you. Flashing BIOS is risky, and if it didn’t, I wouldn’t have used an M2.
Hey, thanks for your input there. So, a couple of things. I am not getting any display out at all, when the m.2 drive is installed. Even if I remove all my SATA drives. No display. Also, for some reason. The screw that holds the second m.2 shield is stuck and I cannot unscrew the shield but I also don't have the greatest tools. lol. I want to try the USB Bios flash with the newest update but not sure what you're supposed to do with that.
there was a display for me, but it wasn't recognizing the m2 no matter what. I couldn't even install windows because it was plugged in. I made a USB to flash the installation, and I tried using BIOS. If you're not seeing video, it might be more difficult. I'd just remove the m2, go to BIOS, and flash it instead.
It's been a while since we last checked in. I've tested two M.2 drives and updated the BIOS, but the problem has come back. The board now shows a red light for the CPU. I've already reached out to UK Support through MSI, hoping they can help. It seems like there might be a setting I need to adjust, but I've tried resetting the BIOS already. I'm still trying to figure this out.
Have you ever managed to get this sorted Cory? I'm looking for a new motherboard and in my area the MSI X570S Tomahawk Max Wifi is cheaper than all the similar B550 options (surprise me). I also have M.2 NVMe Gen 4 drives I'm thinking about installing, so I'd like to know if you've had experience with the same board. Cheers Evad
