Need guidance on laptop CPU and GPU performance.
I intend to upgrade my existing desktop gaming PC. It has been in use for nearly seven years, and I haven’t managed to replace it for the past couple of years because of the ongoing CPU and GPU supply issues. I’m aiming to have it replaced before a crucial component breaks down.
After reviewing the latest news, only Nvidia and AMD are releasing their top-tier RTX 4000 and RX 7000 graphics cards. There’s uncertainty about when both companies will launch more mid-range options. As a temporary solution, I’m thinking about getting a basic or mid-range gaming laptop for around $1000 (which will vary based on Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals from retailers and manufacturers).
I don’t expect these to deliver extreme performance, but I hope the laptop will manage modern games smoothly at least in 1080p, preferably up to 1440p. Besides gaming, once I get a new desktop, I plan to use the laptop for basic drone video editing (not professional-level) and possibly for travel.
I’m also thinking about purchasing a dual-monitor setup with two 1440p displays and adding gaming peripherals like keyboards, keypads, MMO mice, and FPS mice. Eventually, I’ll transfer these to the new desktop once it arrives.
Here’s the link to the laptop I’m considering:

This may not be the exact choice, but my questions are as follows:
1. I believe AMD processors have been outperforming Intel ones for the last couple of years. If you prefer a specific Intel CPU, would a six-core or eight-core AMD model like the Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H be better?
2. For the GPU, which option would suit you best: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, AMD Radeon RX 6500M, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050, or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti?
3. Would 16 GB of RAM suffice for my intended purposes?
4. The laptop’s display is listed at 1080p, but could the CPU and GPU combinations available on the customization page support 1440p? I’d likely need to lower the display resolution to 1080p if necessary. I plan to connect one or both 1440p monitors, possibly using adapters, but I’ll probably use just one monitor during gaming. Thank you for any advice on display resolutions and monitor setups.
5. Are there other gaming laptops or capable models within the $1000 budget that I should consider?
This laptop is an amazing deal, given the specs.

I haven’t reached a final choice regarding a 1440p display. I’m considering purchasing two 27-inch or possibly 32-inch 1440p gaming PC monitors, or other suitable models that can support PC gaming. I’ll research the most frequently recommended brands for this year, such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Acer, AOC, BenQ, etc., and choose the display from the top options at the best price. I also intend to select a G-Sync compatible Freesync monitor that works with both Nvidia and Radeon GPUs. Could you provide some guidance on suitable gaming PC monitors or other gaming-capable displays that meet these requirements? Also, should I opt for an AMD six-core or eight-core CPU, or an Intel CPU for the gaming laptop?
the laptop features a 1080p display since those graphics cards support it.
you won't perform well at 1440p with a 3050 or similar chipset.
laptop graphics cards aren't as powerful as their desktop counterparts and struggle with 1440p as well.
you'll have to modify your expectations or budget to achieve your goals.
